LG’s new dual-mode OLED gaming monitor UltraGear 32GX870B stands out with its 4K 240Hz and 1080p 480Hz options. Here are all the technical details.
LG announced the UltraGear 32GX870B model, a new dual-mode OLED gaming monitor developed for the Japanese market. This 31.5-inch screen allows users to switch between 4K 240Hz for visually focused games or 1080p 480Hz for competitive shooters.
Offering these two different experiences in a single device, the monitor displays a remarkable approach among upper segment gaming equipment. LG UltraGear 32GX870Bstands out with its technical details designed especially for players looking for high performance.
LG UltraGear 32GX870B Technical Specifications
The monitor is based on LG’s fourth-generation Tandem OLED technology. Instead of the three-layer structure used in the previous 32GX870A model, a four-layer Primary RGB design is preferred in this new version.
This technological update provides significant improvements in the brightness and color performance of the screen. While the device reaches a typical SDR brightness value of 335 nits, it can go up to 1,500 nits in HDR mode.
The display covers 99.5 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut and offers a Delta E value of less than 2 out of the box. Supported by a dynamic contrast ratio of 1,850,000:1, the panel has a special anti-reflective coating to reduce reflections caused by ambient light.
Supporting VESA’s Dual Mode standard, the device can reduce the screen size to 27 or 24.5 inches for competitive games. The feature mimics standard tournament sizes by adding black borders for players who want to optimize the field of view when gaming on a large 32-inch screen.
The device minimizes motion blur with its 0.03ms gray-to-gray response time and VESA ClearMR 13000 certification. It also promises a smooth viewing experience thanks to Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support.
On the connection side, the DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR20) input supports high refresh rates without excessive need for image compression technologies. The monitor also includes two HDMI ports, a USB-C input that offers 90W power output, and a two-port USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub.
The monitor, which has built-in 7W stereo speakers, includes various features for sound optimization. Thanks to its ergonomic stand, height, tilt, rotation and 90 degree pivot adjustments can be made.

UltraGear 32GX870B is available for sale in Japan with a price tag of 169,800 yen. Shipments of the product are planned to start on June 11.
There is no official statement yet about the release date in other regions. Considering LG’s past product strategies, the monitor is expected to expand to a wider market in the coming months. What do you think about the dual-mode usage opportunity offered by this new generation OLED gaming monitor?
