New Design for Media Apps in Android 17

New Design for Media Apps in Android 17

With the Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3 version, Google started testing a new interface design that makes it easier to switch between media applications.

Google recently made Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3 available to users. With this new update, some important changes have been made to the interface of the operating system.

One of the innovations that attracted particular attention was the media application switcher in the notification panel. This part has now been removed from the carousel structure and given a different design.

New Media Switcher Experience

In Android 16, users had to swipe right or left to switch between active media applications. The new design that comes with Android 17 aims to make this process more obvious and easier.

In the new interface, other inactive media applications are minimized into small cards. When users touch these cards, the relevant application expands and becomes active.

This formula more clearly shows that it is possible to switch between media applications, especially for new users. In addition, it is aimed to reduce accidental touch errors.

Design Changes and Future Plans

Some disadvantages of the new system also show themselves in the current design. Since minimized audio applications take up more space, the active music player panel becomes a little smaller.

This also causes the control buttons on the music player to become smaller. However, it should not be forgotten that the current version is in a beta phase.

This feature, which is currently a working prototype, may undergo different changes before the stable version is released. Google may continue to optimize this interface element based on user feedback.

What do you think about this new media switcher design of Android 17?
