Minecraft, the best-selling video game of all time, is preparing to meet its new platform, the Nintendo Switch 2. Developer Mojang has announced that the game will be released on October 27th for Nintendo Switch 2.

It is stated that an upgrade path will be offered for players who own the current Switch version. Details about this upgrade process are expected to be shared in the coming days.

Enhanced Visual Experience

The Switch 2 version of Minecraft promises a much more powerful visual performance compared to the previous generation console. The game will support the Vibrant Visuals mod, released by Mojang last year, which offers enhanced graphics, by default.

This mod enriches the game world with technical features such as directional lighting, volumetric fog effects, and optimized shadows. The Super Mario Mash-Up pack, exclusive to Nintendo platforms, will also benefit from this visual update.

Vibrant Visuals also has some limitations. This mode cannot be used in split-screen games, certain game modes, and some Marketplace worlds.

Controller Support and New Games

Mojang has not yet made a statement regarding whether mouse control support for Joy-Con 2 will be offered in the Switch 2 version. This feature may allow players to build more precise structures.

More information about this new version of the game is expected to be revealed in the coming weeks. The expansion of the Minecraft series is not limited to the main game.

The new spin-off game, Minecraft Dungeons II, will be released on September 29th for PC and consoles. This new game will be playable on both the current Switch and the new Switch 2 consoles.
