Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has received PSSR 2.0 support and new costumes with the new v1.005.000 update. Details about PS5 Pro and PC updates are here.
Insomniac Games has officially launched PSSR 2.0 (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) support on PlayStation 5 Pro with the release of the new update, v1.005.000, for the beloved action game Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Announced on July 28, 2026, this update not only brings enhanced scaling technology to improve visual quality but also offers new content for both PlayStation 5 and PC platforms.
The studio continues to maintain the game’s vibrancy by adding two new costumes for the Peter Parker character, while also providing valuable optimizations for a smoother experience on the technical side.
Advanced Scaling Technology Improves Experience
Scaling performance, previously limited to a system-wide switch, has been directly integrated into the game’s engine with this new patch. This situation allows the advantages offered by PSSR 2.0 technology to work much more efficiently on Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Significant improvements are expected, particularly in terms of scene clarity and frame rate stability.
Directly supported PSSR 2.0 maximizes the graphical potential of the PlayStation 5 Pro in the game.
Content Equivalence is Maintained on the PC Platform
Despite Sony Interactive Entertainment changing its PC strategies, Insomniac Games continues to support existing games. While PC players may not benefit from visual customization features, they maintain content freshness thanks to new costumes added to the game. This approach aims to minimize the difference in experience between platforms.
The Marvel Universe Continues to Expand
The number of Marvel-themed games will continue to increase with new productions to be released in the coming days. The 4v4 fighting game MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, releasing on August 6th, and Marvel’s Wolverine, hitting shelves on September 15th, are among the most eagerly anticipated projects for gamers. The fact that Wolverine is being developed by Insomniac Games, the developers of Spider-Man 2, has raised expectations to a peak.
The development team has also included a Power Saving mode in the game. However, whether this mode, which provides efficiency at the expense of performance, will be a preferable option for the majority of players remains a subject of debate.
