Apple has released the third public beta version of its macOS Golden Gate operating system, which will be released in the fall. Non-developer users can start testing the update by registering through Apple’s official beta website.

Users can enable the macOS 27 beta option by following the steps General and Software Update in the System Settings menu. This version allows a wider audience to experience the software before the general release in the fall.

Siri and Design Innovations

macOS Golden Gate brings Siri features similar to iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 to Mac users. Users can access Siri via Spotlight using the Command + Space shortcut.

Siri can now perform web searches and search through personal information such as photos and emails. Additionally, a dedicated Siri application capable of managing cross-application processes is also included in the system.

Apple is also introducing Visual Intelligence

for Mac. This allows Siri to analyze the content displayed on the screen and answer users’ questions.

The Liquid Glass design, introduced last year, receives several improvements with this update. Apple has added a new slider to control system-wide transparency.

Liquid Glass opacity has been reworked to better distribute complex content. Other changes to the user interface provide depth and separation to make the active window easier to distinguish.

Applications now feature uniform toolbars with more readable headings and controls. Window corner rounding is less prominent, while sidebars now extend edge-to-edge.

Performance and New Tools

Window positioning provides a much more balanced experience on external displays. The Write with Siri feature helps users with text creation, grammar correction, and spelling feedback.

New AI-based editing tools are being added to the Photos app. In the Shortcuts app, it’s now possible to create automations using natural language requests.

Search functions in the Mail and Messages apps have been improved to work more efficiently. In addition to all these innovations, Apple has made performance improvements for a faster and smoother experience, even on older Mac models.
