DeepSeek has decided to quadruple its API usage prices. Details and comparisons of the new pricing, which will start on August 16th, are in our news.
DeepSeek, known for its affordable services in the AI world, is implementing a price update that will disappoint its users. The company announced a significant increase in API usage prices with its new model.
With the announcement of the DeepSeek V4 Pro model, the company decided to quadruple the API pricing. This change is stated to be made with the aim of managing resources more efficiently.
New Pricing and Details
According to the new tariff, which will be effective as of August 16th, the price to be paid per 1 million launch tokens for the DeepSeek V4 Pro model will increase to $3.96 during peak hours. This price, currently $0.87, will be applied as $1.98 during off-peak hours.
A similar increase will also apply to the DeepSeek V4 Flash model. The price per million tokens for this model will increase from $0.28 to $1.32 during peak hours. During off-peak hours, users will pay $0.66.
The current discounted prices were originally scheduled to end on May 31st. Although the company announced that it would make the discounts permanent during that period, the final decision was to increase the price.
Competitive Position and Market Situation
Despite quadrupling its prices, DeepSeek still offers affordable options compared to its Competitors. For example, Moonshot’s Kimi K3 model has a cost of $15 per million tokens.
On the OpenAI side, the most advanced model, GPT-5.6 Sol, demands $30 for 1 million tokens. However, OpenAI’s more economical option, GPT-5.6 Luna, at $1.20, is a more affordable alternative to DeepSeek V4 Flash during peak hours.
