Tesla has stepped up its gear in spreading artificial intelligence and autonomous driving technologies, which has a great impact around the world, to global markets. The official presentation made by Ashok Elluswamy, Deputy Leader of the Company’s Artificial Intelligence Unit, at the CVPR 2026 conference revealed a historical turning point for the electric vehicle ecosystem in Turkey.

In the global road map shared in the presentation, it was seen that Tesla completed its legal applications to local authorities for the Full Self-Driving (FSD) system and Turkey was listed in the “countries awaiting official approval” category. This attack opens the door to the era of artificial intelligence-based driverless vehicles on Türkiye’s roads.

Tesla’s autonomous driving architecture has gained great momentum in recent months in terms of complying with European regulations. The automotive giant, which recently received official approval from countries such as the Netherlands, Estonia and Lithuania, pressed the button to launch the FSD software throughout the European continent and simultaneously in the Turkish market. Tesla FSD Türkiye application process, which is carried out by the relevant ministries and information technologies higher councils, will come into force as soon as it passes the legal approval mechanisms.

When the system becomes official, users in Turkey will be able to entrust the steering to artificial intelligence if they have the relevant package, without having to install any additional hardware in their vehicles. The most critical technical limit in this system, which will be put into operation as soon as legal approval is obtained, is hidden in the hardware generation. Within the framework of European regulatory compliance, it is stated that in the first stage, vehicles with the latest generation AI4 (Hardware 4) computer and camera set can use the FSD system with full performance. Tesla, which has been locally collecting data on signs, lanes and complex traffic structure on Turkey’s roads for months through Istanbul-based vehicle operators and training artificial intelligence, will literally start a new era in the electric vehicle competition in our country with the removal of legal obstacles.
