Hayat Kimya has launched its artificial intelligence-supported power management system, which analyzes power production and consumption simultaneously, at its Kocaeli Campus. The system developed by the company in-house monitors the campus’s annual power budget of approximately 65 million dollars 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and supports critical decision processes from production planning to cost analysis, from network optimization to power source selection. The system aims to save approximately 1.5 million standard cubic meters of natural gas annually.
Operating with 16 strong brands, including Bingo, Molfix, Molped, Familia and Papia, Hayat Kimya has combined its many years of industrial experience in power management with its own artificial intelligence technology.
The system, developed within the scope of digital power transformation, the foundations of which were laid approximately five years ago, first began to be used effectively at Hayat Kimya Kocaeli Campus.
System; It simultaneously analyzes power production and consumption data, production schedules, operational constraints, network conditions and changing cost parameters. In this way, power management decisions are always optimized by determining which source, at what time and at what cost will provide the most efficient result for the facility’s power needs.
Power optimization with artificial intelligence support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
The system was created by transferring Hayat Kimya’s corporate knowledge in the field of power management to the digital environment; It carries out cost analysis, power production planning, network optimization and process monitoring 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Going beyond being a monitoring infrastructure that only tracks power consumption, the system works as a dynamic energy management model that supports decision processes in line with production needs and changing cost conditions.
Hayat Kimya Global Energy Director Sabri Çakmak said the following about the artificial intelligence-supported power management system: “We aim to create a structure that does not only produce or purchase energy, but manages it holistically, from production to consumption, from cost to approximately operational efficiency. We aim to save 1.5 million standard cubic meters of natural gas per year with our artificial intelligence-based power management system, and we foresee it to be equivalent to the annual natural gas consumption of approximately 1,500 households. This savings will not only contribute to our institution, but also to the country’s economy and the reduction of the current account deficit by reducing foreign dependency on “power.”
Energy is the industry’s second largest cost item
Power is the second largest cost item in industrial production, after raw materials; It has strategic value in terms of production continuity and competitiveness as well as production costs.
Paper production facilities are among the areas where power consumption is most intense within Hayat Kimya. For this reason, every improvement in power production and consumption has a direct impact on production efficiency as well as costs.
Hayat Kimya Global Energy Director Sabri Çakmak continued as follows: “The system we have developed simultaneously evaluates production plans, instantaneous power consumption, cogeneration capacity, network conditions and changing cost parameters. By constantly comparing different power usage scenarios through this data, it determines which source will provide the most efficient result when put into use at which time. In line with the performance data we will obtain in our Kocaeli Campus, we plan to adapt the system to different production profiles and power infrastructures and commission it in our other facilities.”
Cogeneration infrastructure is managed more effectively with artificial intelligence
The cogeneration system located at Hayat Kimya Kocaeli Campus produces electricity and heat power simultaneously from natural gas. Approximately 80 percent of the campus’s electricity and heat power needs are met with high efficiency through this system.
Existing cogeneration infrastructure with the new model based on artificial intelligence; The production program is managed more dynamically and actively, taking into account power needs, network conditions and changing costs.
The system enables the creation of the most appropriate power usage scenarios by evaluating the production data obtained from different power sources together with the current and planned requirements of the facility.
The model that started in Türkiye will be expanded to other countries
It is planned to expand the artificial intelligence-supported energy management model, which was put into operation in Kocaeli Campus, to other production facilities of Hayat Kimya in Turkey and different countries in line with the operational results to be obtained.
Combining energy production, power efficiency and digital decision systems under a single structure, Hayat Kimya aims to optimize power costs, increase resource efficiency and make production processes more robust with its artificial intelligence-supported model.
