HarmonyOS 7.0 is Coming with a Bang

HarmonyOS 7.0 is Coming with a Bang

The open source-based OpenHarmony 7.0 Beta 1 version of Huawei’s new operating system HarmonyOS 7.0 was leaked on GitCode.

Huawei continues to grow its software ecosystem, which it stands on its own feet, by completely getting rid of its dependence on Android. The footsteps of the HarmonyOS 7.0 operating system, which will power the Chinese technology giant’s new generation flagship smartphones and smart devices, are finally being heard.

OpenHarmony 7.0 Beta 1 version is coming to light for the first time on the GitCode platform, known as China’s GitHub alternative for developers and open source projects. This leak clearly confirms that the major software update that Huawei has been working on for a long time has entered the final stages of development and that it is imminent to be released to user platforms.

The increase of the API version to 26 with the new version shows that a much more flexible, artificial intelligence-oriented and stable structure will be built in the software architecture.

  • OpenHarmony 7.0 Beta 1 Leaked:OpenHarmony 7.0 Beta 1, the open source base of Huawei’s new generation operating system, officially proves its existence by being listed on the GitCode platform.

  • Upgrading to API Version 26:With the new software infrastructure, the API level increases to 26 and more advanced integration tools are offered for developers.

  • Promotion in June:The first official demonstration of HarmonyOS 7.0 is planned to be held at the HDC 2026 (Huawei Developer Conference) event, which will be held between June 12-14.

GitCode Leak and What the New API Level Means

This leak, which caused great repercussions in the software world, reveals that Huawei is working feverishly behind the scenes.

Code blocks appearing on the China-based open source code hosting platform GitCode indicate that the system architecture has been radically renewed. Setting the API version as 26 in OpenHarmony 7.0 Beta 1 means that application developers will have much more in-depth access to hardware features.

Huawei has recently started optimizing the infrastructure by launching a special testing program for developers covering this new API version. This breakthrough of the company aims to quickly complete the stability tests of the system and make it ready for consumer electronics products.

Winds of Artificial Intelligence Will Blow at HDC 2026 Event

The eyes and ears of the technology world are turning to the Huawei Developer Conference (HDC 2026) event, which Huawei traditionally organizes every year and will take place between June 12-14 this year.

Although the company has not yet officially announced that the HarmonyOS 7.0 model will perform at this event, the latest leaked beta information shows that the calendar points to this period.

Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Integration

According to information from industry sources, much more advanced artificial intelligence algorithms are at the center of HarmonyOS 7.0 version. Many processes within the device, from system optimization to smart assistant capabilities, become much more fluid with the support of artificial intelligence.

In addition, thanks to the “Super Device” ecosystem, the information transfer speed and synchronization capabilities between smartphones, tablets, smart watches and cars are taken to the next level.

Minimalist UI Changes

On the user experience side, minimalist touches that increase functionality are expected rather than fundamental design revolutions. It is planned that the interface elements will be more easily recognizable, consume less system resources, and innovative accessibility features such as voice control, especially in game mode, will be integrated into the system.

Users have the opportunity to manage certain in-game functions with just voice commands, without having to touch the screen.

Which devices will it come to first?

The devices that will receive this update first, as well as the release schedule of the software, continue to be a matter of great curiosity. Considering Huawei’s classic update strategy, the stable version of HarmonyOS 7.0 is expected to be factory-installed first on the Huawei Mate 90 series smartphones that will be showcased in the coming period.

Following the Mate 90 series, the current flagship models Pura 80, Mate 80 and foldable screen Mate X series models are gradually included in the beta and stable update pool.

With this new software attack, Huawei aims to reinforce its vision of becoming a completely independent ecosystem in the global market.
