OpenAI is redefining cost and performance stability in the AI world by announcing the GPT-6.1 Sol model. The new model delivers the high intelligence offered by GPT-6 Astra to users at one-fifth the price of standard input and output tokens.

This new version provides remarkable efficiency, especially in spy-based coding processes and professional workflows. Developers now have the opportunity to create much more capable spies with more limited budgets.

High Performance and Low Cost with GPT-6.1 Sol

GPT-6.1 Sol exhibits quite strong performance in spy-based coding, computer use, and professional work. Approaching GPT-6 Astra in demanding tasks, the Sol model provides developers with the flexibility to create more capable spies with the same budget.

Cached input costs are kept at just $0.10 per million tokens. This pricing represents a 95% discount compared to the standard input price.

For spy-based workloads that need to reuse context in repetitive requests, this creates a valuable cost advantage. While GPT-6 Astra remains the top-tier model in terms of overall capability, the Sol model establishes a new balance between cost and capability.

GPT-6.1 Sol offers an ideal option for API customers who want to perform valuable tasks more frequently and develop applications at scale. The model stands out as the most cost-effective option today at the level of performance it offers.

Advanced Capabilities and Technical Assessments

GPT-6.1 Sol offers significant improvements over GPT-6 Sol in areas such as coding, debugging, and executing multi-step workflows. In the DeepSWE v1.1 test, the model achieved the same score as GPT-6 Astra while its cost remained at approximately one-fifth of that level.

It also scores higher than Opus 5.5 in analyzing complex PDF documents. In missions requiring computer use, it manages to outperform GPT-6 Sol in the OSWorld 2.0 test.

In scientific research processes, especially in areas such as data analysis and simulation, it provides a cost advantage of over 75% compared to its competitors. It also provides more robust results in terms of factual accuracy compared to GPT-6 Sol.

GPT-6.1 Sol offers a more transparent structure regarding its limitations. It also exhibits higher reliability in complying with user intent and security restrictions compared to previous versions.

Access and New Subscription Options

The new model is available today for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu users on the ChatGPT Workspace and Codex platforms. Developers can access the model via the OpenAI API using the name gpt-6.1-sol.

Standard API prices are set at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. In addition, the GPT-6 Astra Ultrafast and GPT-6.1 Sol Ultrafast models, which are notable for their speed up to 8 times that of GPT-6 Astra, are also available via the API.

The new Pro subscription level, offered at a price of $500 per month, provides users with the highest usage limits. What do you think about the performance and cost advantages offered by these new models?
