Google has entered the tracking device market, which has long been dominated by products like Apple AirTag and Samsung Galaxy SmartTag, with its own brand. The company’s first tracking tag, Google Pixel Tag, aims to make it easier to find lost items such as keys, wallets, and luggage.
The new device utilizes Google’s Find Hub network and employs Bluetooth Channel Sounding technology for more precise position detection in the near future. The price of the Pixel Tag has been announced as $29.
The Pixel Tag’s biggest advantage is not just that it’s a small tracking device, but also its ability to leverage the broad Android ecosystem through Find Hub.

How does Google Pixel Tag work?
Pixel Tag helps locate the item when it’s not nearby via the Find Hub network. Users can place the tag on their keys, bags, or other items they want to track.
Precision Finding kicks in when it’s nearby. The system aims to guide the user to the location of the lost item with the help of visual directions. Pixel Tag isn’t only controlled from the phone. Users can find the tag and play its sound via the Find Hub app on the Google Pixel Watch 5 or through a browser.
Pixel Buds users can also request Gemini to play the Pixel Tag.
A compatible Android device with Android 9 or newer operating system is required for setup.
Pixel Tag can be used by up to 10 people together.
Google has also considered shared items. The reach of a Pixel Tag can be shared with up to 10 people. This allows, for example, the location of a shared car key, suitcase, or other item to be shared with family members.
