Google I/O 2026 Begins – Android 17 and New Gemini Introduced Live

The countdown has begun for Google I/O 2026. Gemini artificial intelligence updates, the new Googlebook that works integrated with Android phones, and Android 17 are being introduced today.

The eyes and ears of the technology world are turning to Mountain View today. Google is kicking off the highly anticipated developer conference Google I/O 2026 every year. This event, which will take place on May 19 at 20:00 Türkiye time, reveals how artificial intelligence-focused strategies will expand from the portable world to laptops.

In particular, new versions of the Gemini artificial intelligence model, radical changes in the Android ecosystem and Google’s new laptop family, Googlebook, are the main agenda items of this year.

You will be able to follow this event, which we will broadcast live, on our ShiftDelete.Net YouTube page. Our event will start at 19:45. Beforehand, we will talk about what will be introduced at the event.

  • Gemini Takes it to the Next Level:By announcing new and more capable versions of the Gemini model, Google takes the artificial intelligence-based user experience to a smarter and more proactive point.

  • Googlebook Revolution:Introduced specifically for the 15th anniversary of the Chromebook series and built entirely on Gemini Intelligence, the new Googlebook laptops attract attention with the promise of being fully compatible with Android phones.

  • Interface of the Future: Android XR:The steps taken by Google in the field of augmented reality (AR) and mixed reality (XR) are offered to developers with smart glasses and new generation interaction technologies.

Android 17 and XR Vision

On the software side, the innovations coming with Android 17 are likely to radically change phone usage habits. In particular, features such as “Pause Point” aim to help users with digital detox and screen time management.

On the other hand, the “Create My Widget” tool stands out as one of the first concrete examples of how generative artificial intelligence can be integrated into user interface design.

The New Center of Artificial Intelligence: Gemini

Google will make Gemini more than just a chat bot and will be placed at the heart of its operating systems. The new Gemini capabilities that will be introduced within the scope of the event will offer revolutionary innovations, especially in the field of voice interaction.

The new sound models developed for Gemini Live will attract attention with their improved memory management and better context understanding features. These models, known by internal code names such as “Capybara” or “Nitrogen”, will display a much more stable and balanced structure in terms of understanding the user’s intention.

Google will act with the aim of making artificial intelligence the cornerstone of hardware, not just software. In particular, running Gemini-based features locally on devices will provide a significant advantage in terms of both speed and privacy.

Laptop Experience Changes with Googlebook

The Googlebook series, which Google gave the first signals at “The Android Show” event, will be the most talked about hardware development of the conference. These new devices, which follow a similar path with Microsoft’s Copilot + initiative, will come out of the box with an integrated artificial intelligence package called “Gemini Intelligence”.

With these devices, Google will completely break down the walls between ChromeOS and Android. Users will be able to instantly access documents on their Android phones through the document explorer on Googlebook.

These devices, which will be released in cooperation with giant manufacturers such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo, will begin to take their place on the shelves as of this autumn. This breakthrough is considered to be Google’s strongest response to Apple’s ecosystem harmony.
