OpenAI is making a significant change to its ChatGPT platform, ushering in a new era for free and Go users. The company is making GPT-5.6 Luna the default option, removing all limits in text-based chats.

With this update, users will gain access to GPT-5.6 Luna, which is more capable than the GPT-5.5 Instant model. While text chats will be unlimited, existing limits for document uploads, visual processing, and other ChatGPT tools will remain in place.

New Features for Free Users

In addition to these innovations for free and Go users, OpenAI is adding a new Think button to the platform. This button, which will be available next week, will allow the model to perform higher-level reasoning.

For Plus and Pro users, the GPT-5.6 Sol model was launched today. This model aims to provide more focused answers while delivering more reliable results in fact-based matters.

The company has added a dedicated slider so users can choose how much intent ChatGPT allocates to a response. Additionally, the response system has been optimized to avoid unnecessary details and provide only the information needed.

The GPT-5.6 Sol model specifically aims to reduce the error rate in questions based on dates, numbers, sources, and rules. These updates will apply to ChatGPT’s iPhone, iPad, and Mac applications.

Consistent Experience and Improved Responses

OpenAI states that the Instant and Thinking experiences will now exhibit a more balanced tone and behavior. This means users won’t notice a change in tone when switching between different models.

Improvements in the GPT-5.6 Sol model create a clearer communication language by avoiding unnecessary formatting. The model can offer helpful corrections to the user in situations where a simple confirmation is insufficient.

These updates do not make any random changes to the Work and Codex versions of ChatGPT. These innovations, which focus solely on the chat interface, aim to enable users to interact more efficiently.
