Euro-Office, an open source software developed by Europe as an alternative to Microsoft Office, will be available on a web-based basis on June 9.
Open source Euro-Office, developed in cooperation with European-based technology companies, is released as an alternative to Microsoft Office software. This new system, which will be available on June 9, draws attention especially with its web-based working structure.
Within the scope of the project, important names such as IONOS, Nextcloud, Eurostack, XWiki, OpenProject, Soverin, Abilian and BTactic came together. This large supporter base aims to ensure that the software has a strong infrastructure throughout Europe.
Web Based Operation and Large Format Support
Euro-Office allows its users to work with many document formats such as DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, PDF, ODT, ODS, ODP and TXT. The system offers a wide range of editing options on tables and presentation documents as well as documents.
Developers state that Euro-Office is not designed as a standalone application, but to be integrated into existing paperwork processes. Thanks to this structure, a fully compatible working environment can be established with document sharing analyses, online wikis or project management tools.
Users can edit their documents with other individuals in real time through this system. Edited documents can be saved back to the application where they were opened, or they can be downloaded to the computer in different formats and stored.
ONLYOFFICE Infrastructure and Future Goals
Built on ONLYOFFICE on the technical infrastructure side, Euro-Office promises a transparent experience with its open source structure. It is stated that the software will not be limited to institutions and companies only in Europe, but will appeal to a wider user base.
The integration capabilities offered by the system aim to increase efficiency, especially in corporate workflows. Thanks to its web-based architecture, the platform, which can be accessed via the browser without requiring any installation, adapts to the modern working environment.
This initiative, which is seen as an important step towards Europe’s software sovereignty, will try to gain a place for itself in the market dominated by Microsoft Office. The features and ease of integration offered by the software are expected to reach a significant user base in a short time.
Do you think this new open source office software based in Europe could affect the market share of Microsoft Office?
