NEC announced the new LAVIE BM94C business laptop, weighing only 999 grams and offering a battery life exceeding 30 hours.
NEC Personal Computers has introduced the LAVIE BM94C, a new business-focused laptop weighing only 999 grams. Priced at 584,100 yen, approximately $3,570, the device is currently only available in Japan.
Positioned as the flagship of the LAVIE business series, this new laptop combines portability and durability with advanced power management features. The device’s design aims for the lightness and long-term use that professionals need in their daily work routines.
Portability and High Battery Performance Combined
Developed under Project 999, the BM94C successfully combines a lightweight body with a high-capacity battery. The device’s chassis uses laminated aerospace-grade carbon fiber material supplied by Toray, while the top panel features a special technology that increases durability without adding weight.
The laptop has a 99.9 Wh battery that offers approximately 30.5 hours of video playback and 50.8 hours of idle time according to JEITA 3.0 test standards. NEC states that a 30-minute charge provides approximately eight hours of usage, reducing the need to carry a charger during short business trips.
The device’s AI-powered Long Battery Mode analyzes applications that consume unnecessary power and offers suggestions to extend battery life. In addition, intelligent charging technology ensures that battery health is maintained at approximately 72.7 percent even after five years of systematic use.
On the hardware side, the model comes with Intel Core Ultra 5 322, 335, or Core Ultra 7 355 processor options, offering memory capacities ranging from 16 GB to 32 GB. Users can choose from 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB storage options depending on their workload.
Wide range of touch options for professional workflows
The 14-inch WUXGA screen, with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and a 16:10 aspect ratio, expands the vertical workspace, increasing productivity. Coming with Windows 11 Pro operating system, the device promises an optimized experience for multitasking and video conferencing.
On the connectivity side, there are two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, HDMI, and Gigabit Ethernet ports. Supporting Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 technologies, this laptop provides secure biometric login with its Windows Hello compatible Full HD webcam.
NEC emphasizes that this model is designed for professionals who travel frequently and need desktop performance throughout the day. The LAVIE BM94C becomes a valuable addition to the renewed LAVIE business series following the company’s consolidation of its business computing operations under a single brand.
