The long-awaited beta process for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has been officially announced. Gamers will have the opportunity to experience the series’ first playable story mission later this month.
The story mission, titled Entrenched, offered as part of the beta program, takes place during a fictional North Korean invasion. This linear scenario focuses on the experiences of South Korean marines and an American soldier.

The beta version is not limited to the story mode but also brings multiplayer options. The most striking new feature in this mode is Kill Block, a three-module modular map structure that can create over 500 different formations.
During the game’s second weekend, the new Resurgence map, Zodiac, for Call of Duty: Warzone will be available to players. In addition to this content, a Call of Duty: NEXT event will be held on August 21st.
Beta Schedule and Platform Details
The beta program consists of two different phases, and players who pre-order will have early access between August 21-25, 2026. Subsequently, the beta version will be open to general access for all players between August 28 and September 1, 2026.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be released on October 23, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2 platforms. This development marks the return of the Call of Duty series to Nintendo devices for the first time in many years.
