Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have announced the highly anticipated Top Gun collaboration update for Battlefield 6 with an official trailer. Described as the game’s most comprehensive seasonal update to date, this content pack brings next-generation fighter jets, the return of the legendary Wake Island map, and two exclusive game modes focusing on direct air combat. The update will be released on August 18th for all platforms.

A New Era in the Skies: F-74A Seacat and F/A-81F Super Specter

Blending the Top Gun atmosphere with Battlefield’s large-scale combat dynamics, the update centers on air combat. With the release of the trailer, two new fighter jets are shown operationally for the first time: F-74A Seacat and F/A-81F Super Specter .

Featuring advanced mobility and modernized weapon bays, these aircraft provide players with new tactical advantages in both dogfights and precision bombardments targeting ground objectives.

In addition to air dominance, one of the series’ iconic maps, Wake Island, is also returning to rotation, redesigned with a modern graphics engine. The strategic Pacific island will host both air squadrons taking off from the sea and infantry attempting to capture critical bases on the island.

Two New Game Modes for Air and Sea Combat

The new update not only expands the vehicle pool but also introduces two new modes that enrich the competitive structure:

• Carrier Strike: Modernizing the aircraft carrier attack mechanics familiar from past games in the series, this mode sees teams coordinating air and sea attacks to destroy the opposing while protecting massive aircraft carriers.

• Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep: Focusing entirely on dogfighting and air superiority, this fleet offers a high-paced survival structure that directly tests the reflexes, crew coordination, and radar control of jet pilots.

Iconic Top Gun Characters in the Cockpit Passing by

The collaboration also brings key characters from the cinematic universe into the playable specialist/pilot team. Players can sit directly in the cockpit by choosing prominent names from the film series:
