Xiaomi has updated the list of devices whose software support has expired, which includes popular smartphone and tablet models. The company added 10 new devices to the EOL, or end-of-life list, and completely cut off the update support for these models.

With this decision, users of the devices on the list will no longer be able to receive HyperOS updates. In addition, Android version upgrades, monthly security patches and bug fixes will no longer be released for these devices.

List of devices that will not receive updates

The newly added EOL list directly affects the flagship Xiaomi 12 series phones and Xiaomi Pad 6 series tablets. The devices on the list include Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, Xiaomi 12S Ultra, POCO X5, POCO X5 Pro 5G, Redmi K60E, Redmi 10 5G, Xiaomi Pad 6, Xiaomi Pad 6 Pro and Xiaomi Pad 6 Max.

These devices will continue to operate normally despite the software support being interrupted. Users can continue to use their devices for as long as they want, but they need to be careful about security.

Security risks and new options

The end of regular security updates causes devices to remain at an older patch level. This means that devices may be vulnerable to newly discovered vulnerabilities.

This may pose a risk, especially for banking applications or devices containing sensitive personal information. For users who have privacy and security concerns, Xiaomi offers new alternatives such as the Xiaomi 17 series and Xiaomi 15T Pro, for which it promises five major Android operating system updates and six years of security updates.
