Autonomous Driving Expands in Europe: Tesla FSD on Estonian Roads!

Autonomous Driving Expands in Europe: Tesla FSD on Estonian Roads!

Tesla FSD has received official approval for Estonian roads. AI-assisted driving is expanding in Europe. So which country is next?

Tesla, which sets global standards in autonomous driving software, continues to overcome regulatory obstacles in the European market one by one. Following the Netherlands and Lithuania, the Estonian Transport Administration (Transpordiamet) has officially given the green light to the electric car giant’s advanced driving assistant system. With this move, Tesla FSD gained legal status in Estonia, while Tesla’s FSD technology became available in three countries in Europe.

Dutch Decision Opens Doors Across Europe

Estonia’s decision is not based on a scratch testing process. Using the mutual recognition legislation within the EU, the country directly considered the European type approval that the Dutch vehicle registration authority (RDW) had previously given to Tesla as valid.

This approval, which comes after hidden and open tests carried out on continental roads for approximately 1.5 years, proves that the system adapts to the complex road dynamics of Europe. However, legally, this software is not fully autonomous, but is considered a SAE Level 2 driving assistance system. In other words, it is a legal obligation for the driver behind the wheel to pay attention to the road at all times and to take responsibility.

Finally in all Europe by 2026!

The advanced driving assistant can undertake complex missions such as effective navigation, automatic lane changing and intersection turns not only on highways but also on urban streets. While Tesla plans to fully commission this system throughout Europe by the end of 2026, it is claimed that countries such as Belgium and Greece are next in line.

The most concrete step that excites Turkish drivers in this process was taken recently; Tesla FSD Türkiye monthly subscription price has been officially determined as 4,990 TL. Compared to the monthly subscription price of $99 in the US market, it seems that a very stable local pricing policy is followed for Türkiye.

Following Estonia, the acceleration of the approval wave in Europe and the simultaneous removal of high one-time purchase fees in Turkey and the transition to a monthly membership system are the clearest signal that the system will be activated on Turkish roads very soon. With the completion of the necessary legal infrastructure studies, Turkish Tesla users will have the chance to experience this artificial intelligence-based driving comfort on our own streets in the near future.
