Apple has released iOS 27.0.1, a new update for iPhone users. This update fixes some important bugs that appeared in the recently released iOS 27 version. The update can be downloaded to devices by following the path Settings > General > Software Update.

• iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may restart unexpectedly when Face ID authentication fails.
• Color artifacts may appear in photos taken at 2x zoom with f/1.48 aperture under certain lighting conditions. This issue has been detected on a small number of iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max devices.
• The touchscreen may become unresponsive when the Notification Center and Control Center are opened simultaneously.

As previously reported by 9to5Mac , some iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max users experienced their devices crashing when Face ID failed to properly verify a user. Apple promised a fix this week, and they have fulfilled that promise with the iOS 27.0.1 update.

Of the listed fixes, only the issue related to the Notification Center and Control Center affected all iPhone models. However, Apple’s notes generally do not cover all changes; Therefore, older iPhone models will also benefit from other unspecified bug fixes in iOS 27.0.1.

iOS 27 was released two weeks ago as a significant new software update for iPhone. As is the case around this time every year, this general release revealed some bugs that Apple hadn’t detected during beta testing. iOS 27.0.1 was developed to fix some of these issues.

An update is also available today for iPad users: iPadOS 27.0.1. The release notes for iPadOS are quite short and only state: “This update provides bug fixes for your iPad.” This suggests that the fixes in iPadOS are more general and not aimed at specific models.
