Android 17 Introduced – Here Are Its Features and Phones That Will Receive Updates

Discover the artificial intelligence features, security updates and user interface innovations that come with Google’s new operating system, Android 17.

Google announced the important innovations it will offer with its new operating system, Android 17, at the Android Show event held before the upcoming I/O developer conference. The update brings both artificial intelligence-supported tools and practical features that improve the user experience.

With the new version, changes are made in many areas, from emoji sets to digital health tools. Here are the remarkable innovations that will come to phones with Android 17.

AI-Powered Tools and Personalization

Google offers a new real-time transcription tool called Rambler under the umbrella of Gemini Intelligence. This tool makes messages more concise by removing filler words from the conversation and provides multilingual support by correcting errors.

The Create My Widget feature allows users to create their own home screen widgets with natural language commands. This feature makes it easy to design personalized widgets, like a meal planner or custom weather data for cyclists.

Gemini-powered automations are also being expanded, adding tasks like ordering groceries from a shopping list in the notes app or creating a travel plan from photos. In addition, while the automatic scanning feature came to the Chrome browser at the end of June, Gemini is now included in Autofill to fill out forms quickly.

User Experience and Security Updates

Android 17 renews 4,000 emojis with a more three-dimensional and detailed design. These new emojis will be available first on Pixel phones later in the year.

The Pause Point feature aims to increase digital well-being by imposing a 10-second waiting period when entering applications that users mark as distracting. The Screen Recording feature makes it easier for content creators to simultaneously record screen content with the selfie camera.

The Quick Share feature extends to brands like Xiaomi, Honor and OnePlus, expanding its compatibility with Apple AirDrop. In addition, the transition process from iPhone to Android has been made compatible with iOS 26.3, making wireless transfer of files and personal data more practical.

On the security side, new collaborations are being made to prevent calls spoofing bank numbers. While malware detection is being improved, remote biometric protection for stolen phones and new measures that increase the waiting time for incorrect PIN entries are being implemented.

Which of these features coming with Android 17 do you think will be most useful to you in daily use?
