AMD and artificial intelligence initiative Anthropic announced that they have entered into a strategic collaboration that resonates in the technology world. Within the framework of this comprehensive partnership, Instinct MI450 series GPU installations up to 2 GW will be carried out in AMD’s Helios rackmount systems.

While the first gigawatt capacity is aimed to be commissioned in the first half of 2027, this system, which will be built on the existing MI355X infrastructure, aims to accelerate the training processes of artificial intelligence models. In addition, AMD has committed to making a strategic share investment of up to $5 billion in Anthropic, thus strengthening the ties between the two companies financially.

Cooperation Will Accelerate Technological Developments

This participation is not limited to hardware installation only. The two organizations are launching a multi-year engineering effort to streamline ROCm software development processes and ensure the Claude model runs with maximum efficiency on AMD Instinct GPUs. This step aims to increase the performance of AMD hardware, especially in the complex processes of artificial intelligence models that require intense processing power.
