Amazon’s New Artificial Intelligence Assistant Alexa for Shopping Introduced

Amazon’s New Artificial Intelligence Assistant Alexa for Shopping Introduced

Amazon introduced its new artificial intelligence assistant Alexa for Shopping. Rufus and Alexa+ joined forces to become a personal shopping assistant.

Amazon launches a new generation artificial intelligence assistant that will radically change the shopping experience Alexa for Shoppingofficially announces its model. This assistant, available to users in the USA as of May 13, 2026, combines Amazon’s product specialist Rufus and the Alexa + model, which offers personalized artificial intelligence experience, in a single structure.

This system, which remembers not only the users’ shopping history on Amazon but also all their past conversations and preferences with the assistant, turns shopping into a personal consultancy service rather than just a search process. The most striking point is that there is no requirement to have a Prime membership or an Echo device to use this feature.

The Era of Personalized Artificial Intelligence in Shopping

By 2025, Amazon is creating the world’s most advanced shopping assistant by combining Rufus, which helps more than 300 million users in product research, with the Alexa+ model used on hundreds of millions of devices. Alexa for Shopping offers a structure that recognizes the user and remembers their preferences. For example, if you talked about a school project on your Echo device the day before, when you open the Amazon application the next day, the assistant remembers this conversation and can recommend suitable materials for you in seconds.

This new assistant establishes two-way communication with users. The information you share on your Echo device improves your Amazon shopping experience, and your browsing and purchases on Amazon improve Alexa’s capabilities on other platforms. In this way, as time goes by, the assistant learns what the user likes, which brands he prefers and his budget range, and gives more accurate recommendations.

Technical Support and Intelligent Problem Solving

Alexa for Shopping works not only as a product discovery tool but also as a post-purchase support assistant. For example, if an error code is on your dishwasher, simply type it into the Amazon search bar. Since the assistant knows the model of the device you have previously purchased, it directly offers solution suggestions specific to that model or explains step by step the steps you can take before calling technical service.

The assistant also shows a very assertive performance when it comes to gift selection. When you save a family member’s birthday in the system, as the date approaches, it automatically offers you gift options appropriate to their age and interests, which will be delivered on time.

Advanced Features and Autonomous Purchasing

With this update, Amazon also integrates tools that will help users save money into the system. Here are some prominent innovations:

  • Price History:Price changes over the last year can be viewed for hundreds of millions of products.

  • Product Comparison:Multiple products selected from the search results can be compared side by side with their technical specifications and user comments.

  • Autonomous Shopping (Agentic AI):Thanks to the “Buy for Me” feature, the assistant can find the product that meets the criteria you specify not only on Amazon but also in other reliable stores across the web and complete the purchase on your behalf.

  • Automation of Routine Shopping:Scheduled tasks can be assigned to add household needs (pet food, detergent, etc.) to the cart at certain intervals or when the price drops.

Full Store Experience on Echo Show Devices

Amazon does not limit this new artificial intelligence move only to the application and website. Echo Show devices are now turning into a full-fledged Amazon store. For the first time, users can navigate the entire Amazon store, search and complete their purchases via their smart screens, using voice, touch or both.

Alexa for Shopping will be gradually rolled out to all US users in the coming days. All users need to do is update the Amazon shopping app and tap the Alexa icon in the bottom menu. Desktop users will be able to access this experience via the icon at the top of the screen or directly from the search bar.
