Uncertainties continue regarding the first foldable iPhone model that Apple is working on. Discussions about the device being called different names such as iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra and its release date remains on the agenda.

Many recent reports have suggested that the release of the device may be significantly delayed. However, a reliable source in the department stated that these postponement claims do not reflect the truth.

Delay claims for iPhone Ultra

Initially, the iPhone Ultra model was expected to be introduced at the same time as the iPhone 18 Pro. A Barclays investor note published in March claimed that the device’s release could be delayed until December.

The gradual release strategy, seen in the past on models such as iPhone X, iPhone XR and iPhone 14 Plus, is not unusual for Apple. It seems technically possible to offer Pro and Ultra models for sale at different times in order to optimize production capacity.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also supported the reports that the device would be released at a later date. Gurman stated that the new upper segment model will arrive soon after the iPhone 18 Pro and that it is more likely to be released in October instead of December.

Another report published by Nikkei Asia suggested that engineering issues could make the process even more difficult. According to this report, the device’s launch may be delayed until early 2027.

Introduction expected in September or October

The source named Fixed Focus Digital, which had previously stated that the device would be introduced simultaneously with the iPhone 18 Pro, repeated its arguments. The source clearly denied the reports of long-term postponement and emphasized that such news did not reflect the truth.

Fixed Focus Digital responded to the postponement arguments with a clear statement that there would be no delay. The general expectation in the sector is that the Barclays report is an exception.

Apple is expected to announce the iPhone Ultra model along with the iPhone 18 Pro at the classic event in September. It is claimed that the device will be released to the market by October at the latest.
