Google has introduced a number of new features that improve the user experience as part of the June 2026 Android Google System updates. These updates cover a broad ecosystem including Android phones, tablets, Wear OS devices, and cars via Play Services, Play Store, and system services. Among the most notable innovations released in June is a new tool that now allows users to manage WhatsApp backups directly through device settings. This attack seems to be compatible with Google’s aim to take its standards in application management and data security in the Android ecosystem to the next level.

WhatsApp Backups Are Integrated into Device Settings

The Google Play Services v26.23 update, released in mid-June, brings an important convenience, especially for WhatsApp users. Now, users can control their backup processes directly under the phone settings menu, without having to enter a third-party application.

This new interface, supported by Google Contacts, promises users a more fluid experience with improvements to the sync settings.

Play Store Security and Content Management is Updating

Google Play Store v51.9 redefines interaction and security in the app store. Parents can now manage content restrictions on Android much more easily with the PIN codes they set themselves. In addition, users who experience the latest features through Play Labs can directly contribute to the future development of the store with their feedback.

On the security side, Play Protect introduces stricter control mechanisms for titled applications.

Data Security and Password Management are being Improved

Security and privacy-focused updates continued uninterrupted throughout June. The Credential Exchange standard, which comes with Google Play Services v26.21, provides a safe transition between Google Password Manager and other password managers. Users can now transfer their information across platforms in a more flexible form. In addition, the artificial intelligence-based ‘Ask Play’ feature added to the search bar aims to provide users with faster and more efficient answers during the application discovery process. Cross-device document sharing and fast sharing tools continue to be updated with performance improvements.
