Microsoft states that 16GB RAM capacity is still a practical starting point for most gamers. However, the increasing memory demands of new generation games make 32GB capacity more advantageous for long-term use.

The guide includes important recommendations not only on memory but also on storage units. The company emphasizes that the operating system and active games must be run on the SSD. HDD units are recommended to be used only for mass data storage purposes.

This recommendation comes at a time when the use of SSDs has become standard in modern gaming computers. This approach of Microsoft also reflects the impact on system resources of new services and background features added to the platform, such as Xbox integration.
