Apple released the iOS 27 Beta 4 update. Here are all the details about new Apple TV features, ProRes Log 2 support, and dual-battery iPhone tips.
While Apple continues to work on the iOS 27 developer version before the official launch in September, iOS 27 Beta 4 was made available to users today. Although it contains fewer changes compared to previous versions, Apple continues to make tweaks to make the operating system more stable and add new functions.
This update, released for developers and users participating in the beta program, draws especially attention with its media consumption, camera settings and system-wide interface improvements. New references discovered in the system codes reveal the first clues about future device hardware.
Apple TV and Photos App Being Updated
The new automatic download option added to the settings section of the Apple TV application aims to improve the user experience. When this feature is enabled, the next two episodes of the TV series you start watching are automatically downloaded to the device and deleted by the system when watching is completed to avoid taking up space. A new switch has been added to the Photos application that automatically zooms photos in accordance with the width of the screen.
The Notification Center wallpaper animation, introduced in Beta 3, was completely removed with the fourth beta version.
Siri and Interface Options Are Being Redesigned
Siri voice selection interface has been made more intuitive. While the new design language is applied even on devices that do not have customizable sound options, it was stated that wider sound options are on the way for supported iPhone 17 Pro and Air models. Additionally, a new accessibility feature that allows requests made with Siri to be displayed in writing on the screen has also been included in the system. The new welcome screen added to the Siri Search interface guides users on how to use this section.
Camera and Connection Features Are Being Improved
For professional video content creators, the ProRes Log 2 format can now be selected from the camera settings menu. This format provides flexibility by providing much more information during the color editing phase.
On the wireless connection side, the Connection Assistant feature can now be activated or deactivated specifically for each Wi-Fi network. For AirPods users, the options on the Control Center have been expanded.
Dual battery references appearing in system codes may point to Apple’s foldable iPhone Ultra project.
Hints of Future Hardware Emerge
Words such as “iPhone’s batteries are working as expected” included in the system documents of the update are a sign of a significant change on the hardware side. The dual battery architecture, which is expected to be used especially in a foldable iPhone model, signals a fundamental change in battery life and power management.
