Türkiye Greece military power and technology comparison

The military power stability between Turkey and Greece has been taking shape again in recent years with the developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and the investments made by the two countries in the defense industry. In particular, air force modernization, the increase in unmanned systems and new generation warfare technologies make this balance more complex.

In this part of 2T Defense & Technology; We discussed the air, land and naval forces of Turkey and Greece, their current inventories and the systems planned to enter the inventory in the future, in a technical comparative manner. We now leave you with the third part of our program, which we prepared together with Tolga Özbek. Enjoy watching…

Türkiye Greek Air Force Comparison

The most notable modernization step on the Greek side in recent years was the upgrade to the F-16 Block 70 Viper standard. Besides:

French-made Rafale warplanes
Modernized Mirage 2000-5 fleet
F-35 Lightning II inventory planned in the long term

It forms the basis of the country’s air power.

On the Turkish side, a more mixed structure draws attention. While the modernization of the current F-16 fleet continues with the “Özgür” project, F-4 platforms continue to serve in limited form. But the real transformation is happening with new generation platforms:

KAAN National Combat Aircraft
HÜRJET Jet Training and Light Attack Aircraft
ANKA-3 Attack UAV
KIZILELMA Unmanned Combat Aircraft

These systems represent Türkiye’s transition to a hybrid structure in air power where human and unmanned platforms work together.

Türkiye Greek Naval and Land Forces

The two countries are going through important modernization processes, not only on the air force but also on the naval and land forces.

While Greece is trying to strengthen its naval power, especially within the scope of the agreements it made with France and the USA; On the Turkish side, domestic ship projects, national submarine programs and electronic warfare systems come to the fore.

In the land forces, armored vehicle modernizations, tank development programs and new generation command and control systems show that a technological race continues between the two countries.

Radar, UAV Systems and Technological Infrastructure

Radar systems, electronic warfare and unmanned aerial vehicles, which have become one of the most critical areas in modern warfare doctrines, are one of the most valuable modules of this comparison.

While Türkiye’s effective field use and operational experience, especially in the UAV/SIHA field, draws attention; The Greek side is moving forward with NATO integration and western-origin systems.

The aim of this section is not to create random tension, but to objectively analyze the defense industry capacities and technological transformations of the two countries.

According to defense experts, the current situation is evaluated as a technology-oriented transformation race rather than a classic “power comparison”.
