TOGED: A New and Tougher Gaming Law is on the Agenda

TOGED: A New and Tougher Gaming Law is on the Agenda

TOGED shared their concern in the sector by stating that a harsher law has now come to the fore, even though the first gaming law has not come into force.

Turkish Game Developers Association (TOGED) signaled a new legal regulation for the gaming industry, following the four-hour meeting it held with the parliamentary research board. The association stated that there are efforts to introduce stricter rules despite the first game law, which has not yet come into force.

TOGED officials shared scientific data with MPs at the meeting held on July 1, showing that the games do not cause violence. Issues such as age ratings, parental controls and negative behavior in gaming communities were discussed in detail during the meeting.

New law discussions gained momentum

In the statement made by TOGED, it was noted that preparations for a new law for the future of the gaming industry have already begun to be discussed. The association management stated that after the first law, they did not become lax in slaughtering and they accelerated their work even more.

Stating that the deputies in the commission have a good command of the gaming world, TOGED emphasized that there is a lack of knowledge about technical and administrative functioning. The association warned that this incomplete information could lead to solution proposals that cannot be implemented by the department and even risky situations such as a wholesale ban on games.

Sectoral information gap creates concern

During the meeting, detailed information was given to the MPs about how the gaming sector works and what is possible and what is not.

TOGED officials stated that the committee members listened to them patiently, but that the information gap in the technical structure of the sector still poses a serious danger.

The association stated that they will continue to explain the functioning of the department in order to prevent inapplicable solutions that could lead to the banning of the games. TOGED predicts that gaming law discussions will continue to be on the agenda in the coming period.
