The Witcher 3 Remastered PC system requirements have been announced. For 4K 60 FPS Path Tracing settings, an RTX 5080 and Frame Generation are required.
CD Projekt RED has shared the updated PC system requirements for The Witcher 3 Remastered, a comprehensive visual overhaul of the legendary RPG game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The studio has released a wide range of hardware requirements, from low 1080p settings to 4K Path Tracing technology, raising the bar to the latest flagship hardware. According to the information released, to experience the game in 4K resolution, at 60 FPS, and with Path Tracing enabled, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card is required; Moreover, this can only be achieved with DLSS upscaling and Frame Generation technologies enabled.
Next-Generation Lighting Hardware Pushes to Its Limits
CD Projekt RED’s shared system requirements table reveals how much hardware requirements have increased with the rise in visual quality. While tests in rasterized (traditional) graphics settings are performed at local resolution; it is stated that DLSS, FSR, or XeSS technologies are used in automatic mode in Ray Tracing and Path Tracing profiles. The 4K Path Tracing profile, however, necessitates both AI-based resolution upscaling and multi-frame rendering technology.
The development team points to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 or AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics cards for 1440p 60 FPS RT Recommended settings, while for 4K Path Tracing, they directly raise the bar to the RTX 5080 model. This profile lists top-tier processors such as the Intel Core i9-13900K or AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, while the system memory requirement reaches 24 GB of RAM.

Old Farewell to Generational Architectures and the Necessity of SSDs
Updated requirements directly affect not only high-end graphics cards but also entry-level ones. On the NVIDIA side, the base card requirement has risen to the GeForce GTX 1660 level. The biggest reason for this is that the manufacturer has ended Game Ready driver support for older Maxwell, Pascal, and Volta architecture cards. CD Projekt RED explicitly emphasizes that it will continue to support components that continue to receive official software support from hardware manufacturers.
In addition, the studio states that the game is no longer being developed or tested on Windows 10. While this doesn’t mean the game will quickly stop working on older operating systems, Windows 11 is recommended to address potential compatibility issues. Moreover, using an SSD is no longer an option, but an absolute necessity for faster loading of in-game assets and textures. Players whose hardware is insufficient or who wish to preserve the old build can revert to version 4.04 or Classic 1.32 via Steam and other platforms.
