The Number of Electric Vehicles in Türkiye Continues to Increase

The Number of Electric Vehicles in Türkiye Continues to Increase

According to EMRA information, the total number of electric vehicles in Turkey reached 427 thousand 486 as of the end of April, while the number of charging sockets increased to 43 thousand 9 units.

While the automotive industry in Türkiye has undergone a fundamental transformation in recent years, the interest in environmentally friendly and new generation mobility solutions is growing exponentially day by day. According to the official information shared by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) Power Conversion Department, the total number of electric vehicles on Turkey’s roads exceeded a critical threshold by the end of April, reaching 427 thousand 486.

This statistic, which was recorded as 411 thousand 796 units just one month ago, in March, reveals how permanent and rapid the electric transformation is progressing with the strong demand momentum experienced in April.

The continued investments in charging infrastructure, the domestic car Togg strengthening its place in the market with its new models, and the diversity brought by global brands to the Turkish market stand out as the biggest locomotive forces behind this record growth.

The most important details about the latest developments in Türkiye’s electric vehicle market:

  • Fast and Steady Rise:The total number of electric vehicles in Türkiye officially reaches 427,486 units with the new increase recorded in April.

  • New Record in Charging Infrastructure:In parallel with the increase in the number of vehicles, the total number of charging points (sockets) in the country exceeds a critical point and rises to 43,009.

  • Tremendous Growth Compared to Previous Years:According to EMRA information, the electric car park, which is only 14,896 in 2022, will reach 185,513 by the end of 2024, and today this volume almost triples.

Silent Revolution on Türkiye’s Roads: Annual Growth Rates Attract Attention

When we look at the development chronology of the electric vehicle market in Turkey, the recorded stages indicate a growth rate that is rarely seen in the technology and automotive world.

The refreshing statistics shared by EMRA for the past period clearly prove where the market has come from. While there will be only 14 thousand 896 electric cars on the roads in Turkey in 2022, this number will increase to 80 thousand 826 in 2023 and a big jump to 185 thousand 513 in 2024.

While the total number of electric vehicles was registered as 373 thousand 733 as of the end of December 2025, the market continues to grow without slowing down. In January and February of the current year, the levels are exceeded at the end of 389 thousand and 400 thousand, respectively.

Finally, the number of 427 thousand 486 units reached at the end of April shows how quickly consumers adapted from vehicles with classical internal combustion engines to new generation battery technologies.

The share of electric vehicles in the total car pool in traffic maintains its upward momentum in a stable manner.

As the Number of Vehicles Increases, Charging Networks Also Expand

The range and charging problem, which is the biggest concern of electric vehicle owners and consumers who are considering switching to this technology, is largely eliminated with the huge investments made throughout Turkey. EMRA’s April report confirms that infrastructure works are progressing in full synchronization with vehicle sales.

The 43 Thousand Threshold is Exceeded in the Number of Sockets

According to data, the total number of charging points (sockets) across Türkiye reaches 43 thousand 009 as of the end of April. This wide network, which allows drivers to quickly charge their batteries during urban trips or to travel uninterrupted during long intercity trips, consists of alternating current (AC) and high-speed real current (DC) socket types.

Türkiye maintains its top position in Europe in terms of surface area and number of charging sockets per vehicle.

Industry’s Leading Charging Networks Compete

In the Turkish charging network market, ZES (Zorlu Energy Solutions) is still the leader by a significant margin in terms of the number of sockets and coverage area. Following ZES, the Trugo network, established by the domestic car company Togg to provide an uninterrupted and high-speed charging experience, ranks second.

These two big players are followed by Voltrun, which is expanding its station network day by day. In addition to these three companies, the investments of other local and foreign charging operators in the market ensure the rapid spread of charging units in shopping malls, hotels and business centers, as well as on urban highways.

Competition from Togg and Global Brands Expands the Market

The role played by the local and national car Togg in the number of electric vehicles in Turkey reaching such a high rate is an undeniable fact.

The acceleration of the delivery process of the T10F model with serene lines, which hit the roads after Togg’s SUV body type T10X model, directly increases the sales figures in the domestic market. Togg raises electric vehicle purchasing awareness to a mass level with its price-performance stability and wide service-charging network ecosystem.

On the other hand, the vehicle quotas allocated specifically for Turkey by giant manufacturers such as Tesla, BMW and Mercedes-Benz, which have made a name for themselves in the world market, and the competitive models they have recently introduced to the market, support the process.

Especially high-range and tax-advantaged models from Chinese manufacturers with new generation battery technologies constitute a strong alternative for Turkish consumers.

New generation platforms and advanced driving assistance software that reduce charging time to minutes are transforming electric vehicles from being merely environmentally friendly vehicles into smart devices on wheels. With new models entering the market in the coming months, it seems inevitable that new records will be broken in Türkiye’s electric mobility ecosystem.
