Google has expanded its Freeplay service on its television platform, Google TV, offering users new content. Now, users can directly access over 10,000 movies and TV shows without needing to download any additional apps.

Google TV users can easily access this content through the integrated interface. This new feature represents a significant increase in content alongside the live television channels already offered.

The Era of Free and Ad-Supported Content

Google TV Freeplay operates on a FAST model, meaning it’s a free and ad-supported television service. Built into all Google TV devices in the US, this system eliminates the need for users to deal with additional subscriptions or app installation processes.

The number of live channels on the platform is also steadily increasing. Having surpassed the 250-channel mark in December 2025, Freeplay now boasts over 300 channels this week.

Newly added on-demand content is included in the library thanks to valuable partnerships such as A24 and Lionsgate. Users can use new tabs in the interface to explore this wide range of content.

New Interface and Content Access

The Google TV interface is undergoing a redesign with this update. The Live TV and Free Movies and Series tabs on the main screen now help users access content more quickly.

Google states that these new content and interface updates are being rolled out gradually. With this step, the company aims to make the television viewing experience more centralized and accessible.
