2K announced that it will remove the popular racing game Lego 2K Drive from digital stores on May 19. The servers will remain open until May 2027.
2K made an important decision for Lego 2K Drive, the Lego-themed arcade racing game it released three years ago. The publisher announced that the game will be removed from all digital stores on May 19.
The game’s multiplayer servers will remain active for a while. It was stated that these servers will remain open until May 2027 and after this date, online features will be completely disabled.
The reason for its removal from sale remains unclear.
There is no official statement from 2K yet as to why the game was withdrawn from sale. However, the fact that this decision was taken three years after the game’s release strengthens the possibility that the licensing agreements may have expired.
In the game world, when a production becomes unaffordable, it is always seen as a negative development in terms of game preservation efforts. Lego 2K Drive was developed by the Visual Concepts team, known for the NBA and WWE series.
Game Structure and Featured Features
Lego 2K Drive offered an experience similar to series such as Forza Horizon and Mario Kart with its open world structure. Players could participate in various races, missions and different targets on the map.
One of the most striking aspects of the game was its detailed vehicle creation system. Using virtual Lego pieces, players could design vehicles as they wish according to their imagination. Lego 2K Drive, was appreciated by the users especially with this creative vehicle building feature.
