Surprise Update from Xiaomi to the Phone with Expired Support

Surprise Update from Xiaomi to the Phone with Expired Support

Xiaomi has released a new HyperOS update that fixes critical issues for Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco devices on the EOL list.

In a rare situation in the technology world, a new software update has started to be distributed for devices whose official support period has expired. Some Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco branded smartphones are receiving a new update that fixes critical problems, even though they are on the EOL, that is, end-of-life devices list.

When a device lands on the EOL list, it means it will no longer receive major operating system releases or regular security patches. However, as in the past, Xiaomi continues to offer exceptional updates to close critical security vulnerabilities on these devices and improve system stability.

Updated models and details

Although the support period has officially ended, Xiaomi 11i, Xiaomi 12 and Xiaomi 12 Pro are among the devices that received the new software package. In addition, Redmi K60e, Redmi Note 11 Pro +, Poco F4 and Poco F4 GT models stand out as other devices that received updates in this context.

If you have one of these models, you can check for updates via the Settings menu. Since such updates are generally released when critical problems that directly affect the security of the device are detected, it is recommended to install them as soon as the notification arrives.

Critical security fixesAlthough it helps devices run more stable, this does not mean that the device receives up-to-date security patches. Devices in EOL status continue to lack the advanced security features and regular support offered by the latest HyperOS versions.

The importance of switching to new devices

Although such patches provide a temporary solution for devices whose software support has been discontinued, they are not sufficient for long-term security. Switching to new models that offer up-to-date software support and a longer update guarantee for the latest security patches is considered the safest option.

Although Xiaomi continues to make such critical interventions to maintain hardware and software compatibility, it is recommended that users turn to updated devices. It is of great importance for users who are looking for a longer-lasting experience in software support to follow the current device lists and make their next choices accordingly.
