Stock Alert for Apple’s Foldable Phone iPhone Duo

Stock Alert for Apple’s Foldable Phone iPhone Duo

Apple has reduced its production claims due to iPhone Duo stock issues. Details about the supply process of the first foldable iPhone are in our news.

As the pre-order period for Apple’s highly anticipated first foldable model, the iPhone Duo, approaches, potential stock shortages upon its release have come to the forefront. A recent report shared by analyst Jeff Pu reveals that production targets have been lowered due to iPhone Duo stock issues .

Apple announced last week that pre-orders for its new foldable model will begin on Friday, October 16th. The first deliveries are planned for October 23rd.

Hinge Obstacle in Production Process

In a research note shared by 9to5Mac, analyst Jeff Pu stated that he has lowered his projected shipment assumption for 2026 from 7 million units to 6 million units. The primary reason for this decline is attributed to limitations in the production of the hinge, the most critical component of the foldable screen mechanism.

The hinge system stands out as the most complex component in the production line because it enables the device to open and close. Disruptions in the supply of this module lead to the total production capacity falling below the targeted levels.

This complexity in the production process is not limited to the hinge alone, but also slows down the overall assembly line of the device. The precision of foldable screen technology requires more attention and time during assembly.

This directly restricts Apple’s efforts to increase its production capacity. While Apple aims to solidify its position in the foldable phone market with this new technology, how these challenges in the supply chain will be overcome in the long term remains a matter of curiosity.

Significant Production Difference Between iPhone 18 Pro and Standard iPhone Models

Data shared by Pu reveals the significant difference in production scale between the iPhone Duo and standard iPhone models. Apple is expected to ship approximately 72 million iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max units by the end of 2026.

This number is roughly 12 times the projected 6 million units shipped for the iPhone Duo. The first-generation foldable iPhone also stands out as the model with the highest starting price in Apple’s history.

The device will be offered for sale with a starting price of $1,999, which also brings with it high production costs. The limited production capacity and high price tag indicate that the iPhone Duo will appeal to a more niche audience when it first enters the market.

While Apple aims to solidify its position in the foldable phone market with this new technology, how these supply chain challenges will be overcome in the long term remains a matter of curiosity. What are your thoughts on the limited production of the first foldable iPhone model?
