Preparations for Valve’s long-awaited new console-like computer, Steam Machine, are gaining momentum. New package references appearing in the Steam database show that the device’s launch is very close.

Valve, which had to revise its plans for the beginning of 2026 due to previous delays, is not leaving it to chance this time. New database records reveal that the company is working on a reservation system for the device.

Stock control with reservation system

According to the information shared by Notebookcheck, four different Steam Machine package references 1629460, 1629458, 1629447 and 1629446 were detected in the Steam database. These records indicate that Valve is preparing four separate models or packages with different storage options.

Valve used a reservation queue system to prevent stock problems and black market sales in the Steam Controller model. It is understood from the system codes in the database that a similar method will be applied to Steam Machine.

As with the Steam Deck model, users will need to have their accounts in good standing and have made at least one purchase before April 27, 2026 in order to make a reservation. This restriction aims to make it easier for real users to access the device.

Hardware options and market expectation

It is thought that the four different packages detected are separated according to the storage capacities of the device rather than different processor or graphics card options. Currently, the existence of storage options such as 256GB, 512GB and 2TB has been confirmed.

The RAM crisis and high costs in the industry increase the possibility of the device being sold out in the first hours of its launch. It remains a matter of curiosity whether Valve will be able to reach sufficient stock in this process.

The price and exact release date of Steam Machine have not been officially announced yet. However, this activity in the database shows that Valve has determined its pricing strategy and is preparing to start the pre-order process.
