Smartphone Sales: 2026 Second Quarter Results Announced

Smartphone Sales: 2026 Second Quarter Results Announced

TrendForce 2026 smartphone production data has been released. Apple produced 52 million iPhones, while Samsung continues to defend its market leadership.

A new report published by TrendForce offers striking details about 2026 smartphone production data. Apple increased its production by 14 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of the year, reaching 52 million iPhone units.

With this increase, Apple holds a 19 percent share of global smartphone production. With this performance, the company ranks second, immediately after market leader Samsung.

Market Overview

Global smartphone production fell by 8 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of the year to 275 million units. However, TrendForce notes that this decline occurred within a narrower range than previously anticipated, and overall performance exceeded expectations.

In light of this new data, TrendForce has revised its global production forecast for 2026 upwards. Total production, previously projected at 1.05 billion units, has increased to 1.07 billion units with the new forecast.

This revision is explained by consumers buying smartphones earlier than planned and manufacturers reversing previous aggressive production cuts. TrendForce emphasizes that this is more of a strategic adjustment than an increase in underlying demand.

Brand Performance

Samsung continued to hold 23% of the global market in the second quarter of 2026, producing 62 million smartphones. The company’s production volume increased by 7% compared to the same period last year.

Apple’s success is largely due to the effective pricing strategy implemented with the iPhone 17 series. This strategy allowed for strong sales performance in the first three quarters of the year.

Oppo is in third place with 30 million units produced and an 11% market share. Oppo’s production volume decreased by 17% year-on-year.

Xiaomi is in fourth place with 29 million units and a 10% market share. The company’s production numbers decreased by 32% compared to last year.

Vivo is in fifth place with 21 million units and an 8% share, while Transsion is in sixth place with 20 million units and a 7% share. Vivo’s production decreased by 18%, and Transsion’s production decreased by 27%.

TrendForce says that price increases seem inevitable for the upcoming iPhone 18 series. It is stated that the potential impact of this situation on sales momentum is a factor that should be closely monitored in the coming period.

How do you think the increases in smartphone prices will affect consumers’ purchasing decisions in the coming period?
