Samsung Started OLED Production for Foldable iPhone

Samsung Started OLED Production for Foldable iPhone

Apple started production with Samsung Display for the foldable iPhone Ultra. New M16 OLED screen technology and production details are in our news.

While Apple’s highly anticipated first foldable phone was named iPhone Ultra, there was a critical development regarding the production process of the device. Apple chose Samsung Display for foldable display technology and the production of display panels has officially started.

According to information from industry sources, Samsung Display has achieved a production efficiency rate of over 80 percent, which is required to start mass production at its facilities in Vietnam. For this revolutionary device, which is expected to be released in September, Apple requested a total of 3 million OLED panels to be supplied by the end of the year.

  • Samsung Display started the display panel production process for foldable iPhone models at its facilities in Vietnam.
  • Apple ordered 3 million OLED panels for the first batch to be produced.
  • In screen technology, M16 material with more advanced features was preferred instead of M14.

M16 Material is Used in Display Technology

In previous reports, it was claimed that Apple would use M14 display technology, but recent developments show that the company is turning to the newer M16 luminescent material. This new generation technology aims to offer users a much higher level of brightness, optimized color accuracy and superior power efficiency.

M16 technology will significantly extend the lifespan of the foldable screen.

Visual Quality Increases with CoE Technology

The new panels to be produced by Samsung Display attract attention not only with their material structure but also with their Color Filter on Encapsulation (CoE) technology. This technological integration ensures that the screen does not compromise on image quality despite its foldable structure. With this breakthrough, Apple plans to make an assertive entry into the foldable segment of the smartphone market.

The fact that production efficiency exceeds the targeted level shows that Apple’s supply chain strategy is working successfully. Samsung Display’s operational strength in Vietnam plays a critical role in preventing any stock issues before the launch in September.

The increase in Samsung’s production capacity supports Apple’s foldable phone ambitions.

Market Expectations Continue to Rise

The technology world is closely following what form the competition will take with Apple’s entry into the foldable device market. These panels, equipped with M16 technology, form not only a screen, but also on a basis that will determine the overall performance and durability of the device. This collaboration between Samsung and Apple seems to set the standards for foldable devices in the coming years.
