Samsung: Red Spot Problem on Galaxy S26 Ultra is Software-Related

Samsung: Red Spot Problem on Galaxy S26 Ultra is Software-Related

Samsung announced that the red spot problem seen on the Galaxy S26 Ultra screens is software related and will be solved with an update.

Samsung made an official statement regarding the rectangular red spot problem that appears on the screens of some Galaxy S26 Ultra users. It has been confirmed that this situation, which created a permanent OLED screen burn alarm among users, was caused by a software error, not hardware.

According to the information shared by News1 Korea, Samsung stated that the problem in question is caused by software optimization. The company announced that work has begun on an update that will correct this situation and will be available to users soon.

Software update is on the way

Galaxy S26 Ultra users reported that they encountered a slight reddish stain appearing in the middle of the screen after using their devices for three to four months. Many users were worried, thinking that this was a permanent screen burn.

Samsung collected the affected devices for review and conducted a detailed investigation. As a result of the investigations, it became clear that the smearing on the screens was not a hardware fault, but related to software optimization.

Galaxy S26 Ultra comes with LEAD 2.0, a new OLED panel technology that removes the polarizer layer to increase screen brightness and color transmission. Thanks to the Privacy Display feature, this technology restricts the viewing angle of the screen and prevents content from being viewed from the side.

What should users do?

Samsung stated that users are experiencing this problem can contact the nearest authorized service until the software update is released. Service centers can immediately perform the necessary analysis processes for affected devices.

LEAD 2.0, the new generation display technology, stands out especially in privacy-oriented usage scenarios. Removing the polarizer allows the device to both present a brighter image and prevent unauthorized glances.

When this optimization error on the software side is corrected, the image quality and performance of the screen is expected to return to normal. Have you encountered a similar screen problem on your Galaxy S26 Ultra device?
