Galaxy devices that will not receive Samsung’s Android 17-based One UI 9.0 update have been listed. Here are the S22, A53 and other models whose update support has ended.
With Google officially announcing the Android 17 operating system, all eyes turned to the One UI 9.0 interface update among Samsung users. Technology giant Samsung’s new interface, which is expected to start distribution next month, unfortunately marks the end of the road for decent Galaxy device models. Famous S and A series devices, which have completed their upgrade period in accordance with their update policies, will be deprived of the innovations offered by the new Android version. This situation may push users, especially the Galaxy S22 series and foldable devices, to look for hardware changes or a new model.
Which Samsung Devices Will Not Receive Updates?
Although Samsung has not published an official list, when current software upgrade policies are examined, it has become largely clear which devices will not be upgraded to One UI 9.0. This list includes models that have reached the promised end of the major update since the device was released. In particular, the flagship models released in 2022 have now reached the end of the road.
It has become clear that devices such as the Galaxy S22 series and Galaxy Z Fold 4 will no longer receive major Android updates.
Upper Segment Models Excluded from the Update
At the top of the list of devices that will not receive updates are the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra models, which are well-known in the technology world. However, the Galaxy S21 FE, known as the budget-friendly flagship, also finds its place on the list.
The doors of the new interface seem to be closed for owners of Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4, one of the pioneers of the foldable phone world. Additionally, Galaxy Tab S8 series tablets were also excluded from this update cycle.
Support Ends for Mid-Segment Devices
A similar situation is observed in a significant portion of the Galaxy A and M series phones that appeal not only to the upper segment, but also to the middle segment. Common models such as Galaxy A73 5G, A53 5G and A33 5G will not receive the One UI 9.0 update. In addition, entry-level devices such as Galaxy A14, A06, A05 and A05s and M series members such as M53, M33, M14 and M05 are among the devices that are deprived of the new Android version. Some models from the Galaxy F series and XCover 6 Pro were also included in this list.
If your device is on this list, it is recommended that you switch to a more current model to benefit from the latest features.
Users are Preparing for the New Era
Although operating system upgrades for the devices on the list have been stopped, Samsung is expected to continue providing critical security patches for a reasonable period of time. However, for users who want to maintain current security standards and experience the latest One UI features, purchasing a new device stands out as the best solution. This change in the technology world seems to closely affect users’ device preferences.
