Research: Foldable Market to Grow with iPhone Duo
According to a Counterpoint Research report, iPhone Duo features and foldable phone market growth expectations until 2030 have been revealed.
Counterpoint Research has published a new report on the future of the foldable smartphone market and Apple’s influence in this area. This report details the eagerly awaited iPhone Duo features and the company’s projected market share by 2030.
Apple is projected to account for 27% of foldable panel shipments in 2026 with the iPhone Duo model, expected to be released next month. This expectation is largely similar to data previously released by TrendForce.
Competition in the Foldable Phone Market
Samsung continues to maintain its leadership in the segment with a 33% market share, recording an 8% year-on-year increase in shipments. Despite experiencing a 6% decrease in shipments, Huawei ranks third with a 25% share.
Foldable panel shipments are expected to grow by a total of 74% between 2026 and 2030. This growth means a compound annual growth rate of approximately 15%.
Apple’s shipments are projected to increase by 167% from the second half of 2026 to 2030. This increase could raise the brand’s total market share by approximately 15 percentage points to 42%.
Samsung’s shipments are expected to grow by 27% during the same period, while its market share is projected to fall to 24%. Huawei’s shipments are only projected to increase by 3%, and its market share is expected to fall to 15%.
Design Trends and Future Expectations
The report provides valuable data on how foldable panel shipments will be distributed by design until 2030. Internally foldable panel shipments are expected to grow by 79% between 2026 and 2030.
This growth will increase the market share of internally foldable designs from 81% to 84%. A 179% increase is projected for multi-foldable design shipments.
The market share of multi-foldable designs is expected to rise from 2.8% to 4.5%. While a 27% growth is predicted for clamshell design shipments, their market share is expected to decrease by approximately 4 percentage points to 12%.
