Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 and 6 Gen 5 Introduced

Qualcomm introduced Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 and 6 Gen 5 processors. All the details of the new chips that bring 90 FPS gaming, 100x zoom and Wi-Fi 7 support to entry and mid-segment phones are here.

Qualcomm officially announced the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 models, two new processors that will change the balance in the affordable smartphone market. These new generation chipsets, produced with the 4 nm fabrication process, aim to make high-performance gaming experience and artificial intelligence features accessible, which we are not accustomed to seeing especially in budget-friendly devices. Both processors promise huge leaps in both energy efficiency and graphics processing capacity compared to previous generations.

  • Snapdragon 4 Gen 5:While it offers 90 FPS gaming support for the first time in the entry segment, it provides a record performance increase of 77 percent on the GPU side.

  • Snapdragon 6 Gen 5:It brings flagship features such as 100x digital zoom capacity and Wi-Fi 7 connection support to mid-segment devices.

  • Efficiency Oriented Architecture:Thanks to the new 4 nm production technology, both processors come with serious energy saving improvements that extend battery life.

Snapdragon 4 Gen 5: 90 FPS Era at Entry Level

Qualcomm’s most affordable series, the 4 series, changes its shell with Snapdragon 4 Gen 5. This processor includes two 2.4 GHz performance cores and six 2.0 GHz efficiency cores in its eight-core structure. However, the real remarkable development is happening in the graphics unit. According to the data shared by the company, Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 shows a 77 percent increase in GPU performance compared to the previous generation.

This performance increase allows budget-friendly phone users to play popular games at 90 FPS frame rate. In addition, thanks to the “Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI” technology, which focuses on the overall fluidity of the device, application opening speeds and interface animations become 43 percent faster and smoother.

Visible Increase in Battery Life

The processor also raises the bar in energy efficiency, allowing users to spend more time on a single charge. Qualcomm states that devices with this chipset offer more than an hour of extra video playback and more than 90 minutes of music listening time compared to the previous generation. Especially coming with dual active 5G SIM (DSDA) support, it is a first in the entry segment for those who use professional and personal lines at the same time.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 5: Camera Revolution in the Mid-Segment

Targeting the upper middle segment, Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 brings the “premium” phone feeling to more affordable models with its features. Consisting of four 2.6 GHz performance and four 2.0 GHz efficiency cores, the processor helps take crystal clear photos in low-light environments with artificial intelligence-supported night vision (AI Night Vision) technology.

The most talked about feature of the processor is 100x zoom support. This software-supported zoom capability offers a professional-level zoom experience on a mid-range phone. In addition, support for taking photos with up to 200 MP resolution and 4K HDR video recording makes phones using this processor an attractive option for content creators.

Future Vision in Connection Technologies

Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 is not limited to performance only; On the connection side, it supports the latest standards such as Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. Especially thanks to the “XPAN” technology, Bluetooth headphones can maintain their connection via Wi-Fi when they go out of range, promising an uninterrupted sound experience. These features, combined with 144 Hz screen refresh rate support, redefine the standards in the middle segment.

These processors, which we will start to see in new models of brands such as Oppo, realme and Redmi in 2026, are described as a big step towards the democratization of technology. It is no longer necessary to have the most expensive phone to play high-resolution games or take professional-level photos.
