PS5 Games Coming to PC: Which Games Were Run?

The PS5 emulator KytyPS5 managed to run GTA V on PC at up to 60 FPS. Check out the latest developments and details in the emulation world.

The PS5 emulator world is progressing faster than ever before with recent developments. The KytyPS5 emulator has reached a significant milestone by successfully running the console version of Grand Theft Auto 5 on PC.

This development is noteworthy as a success that the gaming community has long awaited and worked intensively on. The developers are continuing optimization processes to ensure the game runs smoothly on PC.

GTA V Experience with KytyPS5

KytyPS5 is currently considered one of the most prominent PS5 emulators. In tests, the starting missions of GTA V can be run with a performance of approximately 40 to 60 FPS.

These tests were performed on a fairly powerful PC hardware with a Ryzen 7 9950X3D processor and an RX 7900 XT graphics card. This hardware provides the high processing power required to handle the heavy load of the emulation.

The game experiences crashing issues when reaching the scene where the police are waiting or during cutscene transitions. However, the fact that GTA V’s cutscenes are rendered in real-time by the game engine instead of pre-rendered images proves the emulator’s success.

This shows that the emulator can directly interact with the game engine and handle complex scenes. Other games playable on KytyPS5 include Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered.

Productions such as STORY OF SEASONS: A Wonderful Life, PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC, and Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons also run smoothly. In particular, PAC-MAN WORLD Re-PAC can be played at a stable 60 FPS on a system with an RX 6700 XT and Ryzen 7 7700X.

This shows that emulation is evolving not only for large-scale productions but also for a wider game library.

Alternative Approaches in the Emulation World

The SharpEmu project, however, continues its work following a different strategy than KytyPS5. This team focuses more on low-level accuracy and infrastructure setup rather than game compatibility.

This approach aims to solve the fundamental issues currently preventing games like Astro Bot from running. Even though Astro’s Playroom has only managed to reach the opening screen so far, this is still considered a valuable step forward.

SharpEmu is also achieving significant success, particularly on handheld consoles, specifically the Steam Deck. Astro’s Playroom can be launched locally on the Steam Deck, but performance currently hovers around 1 frame per second.

While this performance level isn’t playable yet, it’s a promising development for the initial stages of PS5 emulation. Emulation developers state that this stage is the weakest point of the technology and that much better results will be achieved in the future.

As we approach the release of GTA VI, PC gamers’ interest in playing these games without waiting for an official port is also increasing. The community’s determination in this regard is further accelerating developments in the emulation world and leading to the emergence of new forks.
