ARMSX3, a PS3 emulator developed for Android, has gained online game support and valuable performance improvements with its new update.
ARMSX3, which allows running PlayStation 3 games on Android devices, has gained valuable features with the released updates. The emulator now offers online game support, allowing users to connect in multiplayer over the internet.
Developers have also included many new features with this version, such as save file import, USB keyboard emulation, and comprehensive controller fixes.
Online PS3 Experience with ARMSX3
The online game support that comes with ARMSX3 version 0.9.3 uses the open-source RPCN system instead of Sony’s PlayStation Network infrastructure. This infrastructure, also preferred in the RPCS3 emulator on the desktop platform, allows players to find each other and connect in supported games.
Users can create an RPCN account directly from within the application and activate their account with the activation key sent by the server. The emulator allows the registration of multiple RPCN servers and quick switching between them.
Users should be careful about security; Since RPCN passwords are stored in plain text in the rpcn.yml document, it is recommended not to use passwords used on other services. In addition, advanced network options such as IPv6 support, DNS server redirects, and clan settings are also available.
Comprehensive Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements
The new updates are not limited to network features; They also significantly improve game compatibility. Improvements to the ARM64 architecture have fixed over 500 bugs and resolved stuttering issues in games like Borderlands 2 and BLEACH: Soul Resurrección.
New options have been added to the advanced settings section, allowing users to modify console settings such as system language, region, and date format. USB keyboard emulation has also been revamped, enabling in-game text chat and debugging menus to function like a real keyboard.
On the performance side, shader compilation threads have been optimized for the big.LITTLE processor architecture of Android devices. Caching Vulkan process lines in storage prevents stuttering caused by shader compilation in subsequent sessions.
On the controller side, latency and double-input problems experienced with L2 and R2 triggers have been fixed, aiming for a more stable gaming experience. The current version is listed as ARMSX3 0.9.4 on the project’s GitHub page, and development continues with bug fixes.
