Google’s AI-powered tool NotebookLM has been updated with features that simplify tasks, including automatic resource tagging and bulk sharing.
NotebookLM, one of the most useful AI tools that can be integrated into workflows, continues to enhance its capabilities with consistent updates from Google.
Following the recent Gemini integration, Google has added automatic tagging and categorization capabilities to the tool to solve a problem that makes resource management difficult in large notebooks.
AI-Powered Automatic Tagging
Especially in large notebooks with more than 10 resources, manually categorizing or tagging each resource could be a significant time lag. With the new update, this organizational burden is completely taken off the user’s shoulders. Key features of the system include:
Activation Requirement: The automatic tagging feature starts working immediately when a notebook contains more than 5 resources.
Multiple Tag Assignment: If the content of resources overlaps with different topics, the system can assign multiple tags to the same resource for more efficient filtering.
Full Customization: The user has the final say on the tags assigned by the AI. You can rename, delete, and personalize tags by adding emojis, or assign your own manual tags instead of NotebookLM’s preferred ones.
This innovation eliminates the hassle of manual editing in research-intensive tasks, allowing you to access the desired resources in seconds. The development team is also considering similar tag/category support for generated AI outputs, but this expansion may take some time to roll out.
Fast Sharing with Multiple Emails
In addition to resource management, Google has also made the process of sharing notebooks with others much more practical. When you want to share your notebook with a large team or workgroup, you no longer have to enter recipients’ email addresses one by one.
By copying and pasting the entire email list into the relevant field at once, NotebookLM automatically parses all addresses and quickly sends invitations. These features, currently being rolled out gradually, are expected to be available to all NotebookLM users soon.
So, what do you think about these automatic resource tagging and practical group sharing features added to NotebookLM? Do you use such AI-powered tools in your research and note-taking processes? Don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments!
