As part of Apple Store innovations, the Genius Bar is returning. Apple aims to make its retail stores more practical.
Apple is preparing for significant innovations in its retail stores. These Apple Store renovations, which will change the company’s store concept, particularly include the return of the iconic Genius Bar areas.
According to information shared by Mark Gurman in the Power On newsletter, Apple aims to accelerate store renovations in the coming years. The goal is to transform stores into a more classic and practical retail, service, and delivery-focused structure.
New Era and Design Changes in Stores
The first major change will take place in the Avenue sections of the stores. These areas, currently used for showcasing accessories and services, will be redesigned for online order deliveries and Today at Apple sessions.
The new section dedicated to online deliveries will be constructed entirely of wood. The upper half of this area will feature a slim Apple logo, while the lower half will contain secure drawers for storing delivery orders.
A desk at the front will provide a workspace for employees to manage the delivery process. Three-meter sections dedicated to Today at Apple sessions will feature a large screen and dedicated drawers for instructors to store their devices.
The large seating areas and delivery desks currently found in stores will be moved to the sides of the stores. A second significant change will be the removal of the massive display walls located in the back of the stores.
These screens, used for Today at Apple sessions and marketing activities, will be replaced with a different design in the new store layout. The removal of these display walls indicates a change in the overall atmosphere and product-focused system within the store.
Apple plans to make these areas more functional. The third and most notable change is Apple’s return to the Genius Bar concept, which it abandoned more than a decade ago.
Genius Bar Returns
The display walls removed in many stores will be replaced by new, wood-designed Genius Bar areas. The new Genius Bar design combines the iconic look of the past with a contemporary touch.
These areas will have two different counter heights for accessibility, and the wall behind them will feature large posters showcasing new products and storage drawers. This strategic change by Apple will allow stores to function more efficiently not only as display areas but also as technical support and service centers.
The company aims to make the in-store experience more practical. What do you think about these changes Apple plans to make in its stores?
