No More Sending Wrong Messages in Google Messages

Google Messages has introduced the “Add to Draft” option in the Smart Replies feature, which prevents accidental notifications from being sent.

Google offers a new feature on its messaging application Google Notifications that will prevent users from accidentally sending messages. The “Tap to draft” function, which started to be tested in March, is now available to users with the stable version.

Previously, when the Smart Replies option was tapped, the message was directly forwarded to the other party. This caused some users to accidentally send notifications, which led to the feature being shut down completely.

The Risk of Accidentally Sending Notifications is Eliminated

With the new update, Smart Replies are now added as a draft to the message box instead of being sent directly. In this way, users can edit the message before sending it and start the sending process manually.

Those who want to use this new behavior must check the application settings. It is possible to activate this feature by going to the “Recommendations” section in the Settings menu.

This innovation, which was introduced with the new stable version of the application 20260522_00_RC00, continues to work in “Tap and send” mode by default. Users can personalize their messaging experience by selecting the “Add to Draft” option.

How to Enable the Feature

To make this change in the Google Notifications application, you need to enter the Settings menu. It is enough to click on the “Suggestions” menu under the “Suggestions and Actions” tab, which is located here and has recently been renamed.

When the “Add to Draft” option is selected from this menu, Smart Correspondences are now placed as text in the notification box. This gives the opportunity to review the content of the declaration and make changes if necessary.

With this change, Google aims to reduce users’ margin of error during messaging. This quality improvement, included in the latest version of the application, provides valuable convenience, especially for users who respond quickly.

Do you find this new “Add to Draft” feature in the Google Messages app useful?
