Meta has released Muse Code, a new terminal-based tool for software development processes, in beta. Supporting macOS and Linux operating systems, this new tool helps developers manage complex software projects.

Muse Code is powered by Meta’s current model, Muse Spark 1.2. This system was developed to perform extensive engineering tasks on large code repositories.

Terminal-Based Coding Assistant

Mac users can quickly install Muse Code with a single command. Unlike Competitors such as ChatGPT Codex or Claude Code, Muse Code currently does not have a graphical application interface.

Meta states that this tool can plan software changes and write code. Additionally, the system has the ability to verify its work and coordinate background spying that remains active throughout the session.

Muse Code, which maintains a local event log, records model invitations, tool usage, and edits. This feature allows developers to resume from where they left off in the event of a potential system crash.

Thanks to built-in commands, users can create a plan for their projects or stress-test existing plans. This structure, which always works to achieve the defined goals, aims to increase efficiency in software development processes.

New Features in Muse Spark 1.2

Muse Spark 1.2, which forms the basis of Muse Code, stands out as a particularly coding-focused update. This model includes significant improvements in code generation, debugging, and codebase optimization.

Developers can access the Muse Spark 1.2 model both through Muse Code and via the Meta Model API. This model is specifically optimized to support long-term developer workflows.

Meta enhanced the model’s spying and multi-mode capabilities by releasing Muse Spark 1.1 in July. The company also launched its paid API service for developers during this period.

In April, the company initiated a major transformation in its AI strategy by replacing the Llama model with Muse Spark. Since then, Muse Spark has been actively used to expand the Meta AI application and strengthen its visualization capabilities.
