New Mac Studio Shocks Prices: It’s a Disaster

New Mac Studio Shocks Prices: It’s a Disaster

Apple plans to release the new Mac Studio model with the M5 Ultra processor in 2026. Details about the technical specifications and possible price of the device are here.

Despite the general price increases in the Mac series, Apple continues to work on a new Mac Studio model. According to information shared by Bloomberg, the company aims to launch this new device by the end of the year.

The new model will be equipped with the M5 Ultra chip, which will be the last member of the M5 family. The Mac Studio series, which has not been updated since March 2025, aims to offer a significant performance increase with this new processor.

M5 Ultra and Memory Capacity Details

The Mac Studio renewal, which was previously expected to arrive in early 2026, was postponed due to memory chip supply problems and price increases. Although Bloomberg states that the device may be released around October 2026, the delivery period of existing M3 Ultra processor models is extended until October, making the finality of this date unknown.

The new M5 Ultra chip is expected to have around 36 CPU and 80 GPU cores. These specifications are at a similar level to the current M3 Ultra processor, which offers 32 CPU and 80 GPU cores.

It is known that Apple is testing a combined memory support of up to 768GB on the new device. However, current supply restrictions do not make it clear whether this high memory capacity will be included in the model to be released.

Pricing and Market Strategy

In the past, Apple offered a 512GB RAM option on Mac Studio models with M3 Ultra processors, but this option was removed in March. The company, which is currently restricting its upper segment Mac models, offers the current M3 Ultra Mac Studio with only 96GB of RAM.

Apple’s price updates today reveal how much hardware costs have risen. The Mac Studio with 96GB RAM saw a $1,300 increase in price, rising from $3,999 to $5,299. If Apple releases an M5 Ultra model with 768GB RAM option, it is estimated that the sales price of the device may exceed $ 10,000.

The company plans to skip the high-performance Pro and Max chips in the M6 series and focus directly on the M7 series. This change in strategy is explained by Apple’s desire to accelerate processor development for artificial intelligence workloads.

Do you think that Apple’s release of a Mac Studio model with such a high memory capacity is a reasonable investment for professional users?
