New Feature Coming to WhatsApp Statuses

New Feature Coming to WhatsApp Statuses

WhatsApp is testing the feature of providing quick emoji reactions to status posts with the Android 2.26.19.8 beta version. New design and fast interaction details are in our news.

WhatsApp continues to develop new features to make the user experience more interactive. Released for Android platform 2.26.19.8 beta With this version, users can now react much faster to status updates shared by their friends. This innovation, which has been tested for a long time and aims to increase user interaction, speeds up communication, especially by bringing the “Quick Reactions” mechanism on Instagram to the messaging giant.

  • Quick Response System:When you swipe up on the screen while watching status updates, you can instantly react by choosing from eight different emojis.

  • Visual Design Change:With the new beta version, status icons and user interface are becoming more compatible with Meta’s “Liquid Glass” design language.

  • Beta Process:This feature is currently available for a limited number of Android beta testers and is expected to be rolled out to all users soon.

Engagement Increases in Status Updates

WhatsApp makes it easier for users to respond to each other’s posts not only with text, but also with emojis that can instantly express their feelings. Android 2.26.19.8 update introduces a new interaction panel on the status screen. Thanks to the emoji tray that appears when users swipe up while watching a situation; It can send reactions such as love, laughter, surprise or sadness with a single touch.

Although this feature has actually been tested in some versions before, it has a much more stable and aesthetic appearance with the new update. These quick reactions are sent to the other party as a message notification and are displayed in the chat window with a preview of the relevant situation.

Liquid Glass Inspirations in Design

WhatsApp is going through a major transformation, not only functionally but also visually. The “Liquid Glass” design language, which we started to see in Meta’s applications as of 2026, also shows itself in this beta version.

This new language promises more transparent transitions, softened corners and a modern look. The rings around contact icons in the status tray and the animations of reaction emojis fit right in with the overall modernization efforts of the app.

Future Integrated with Meta AI

WhatsApp’s innovation is not limited to status reactions. The company is also preparing to integrate the privacy-focused “Incognito Chat” mode with Meta AI.

In this way, users can ensure that their conversations with artificial intelligence are not recorded or associated with their profile data. Code structures in version 2.26.19.8 indicate that this privacy layer will be rolled out to a wider scope very soon.

When Will It Be Available to Users?

This version, which is currently distributed through the Google Play Beta Program, has not yet reached all Android users. WhatsApp usually tests such features on a small group for a few weeks and includes them in the stable version based on the feedback.

If no errors are encountered, the status reactions feature is expected to be available for general use for both Android and iOS users in the coming months.

In addition, the “Status Archive” feature, another important innovation that WhatsApp is working on, also progresses in parallel with this process. Studies are continuing to ensure that the statuses shared by users and deleted after 24 hours can be stored in a personal archive in the future.
